Dr. John A. Lipscomb Jr. of Cincinnati Children’s Eye Hospital to become head of Children’s Ophthalmology Impact Factor
The Cincinnati Childrens Eye Hospital has announced Dr.
John A. Lopez-Perez as its new director of Childrens Ophthalmic Impact Factor.
Lopez-Pérez will oversee the Childrens team that will help the hospital address the urgent needs of children in the Cincinnati ChildrenSight program, which provides vision care to children with severe and complex vision loss, the hospital said in a news release.
He will join the Children’s team that provides vision services to children at hospitals across the state.
The Childrens program helps children with vision loss or other disabilities who are enrolled in its comprehensive vision services, including the ChildrenSighting program.
Lopes-Pérrez previously served as the chief medical officer for Childrens Vision.
In an interview with the Cincinnati Enquirer, he said the move comes as Cincinnati Children is one of many children’s hospitals across Ohio struggling to fill critical roles in vision services and care.
The Cincinnati Children will have one of the largest and most comprehensive vision programs in Ohio, he added.
The announcement comes just days after the hospital reported a steep drop in admissions, which the hospital attributed to patients who are eligible for Medicaid.
The hospital is still in the process of determining how many children will be enrolled in the Children Sights program.
The program covers children who are under 18 and under the age of 3 years old.
