The U.S. Senate may consider bill to expand use of CVS, Walgreens
The Senate may vote this week on a measure to expand the use of a nationwide CVS drug distribution network to more patients, health care officials said Thursday.
The Senate bill would expand the network to cover more than 300,000 people, up from 200,000.
It would not apply to Walgros pharmacy in New York City, which has been in operation since 2005.
The measure would allow pharmacists to dispense CVS products directly from their storefronts.
It was not immediately clear what would happen to Walgreen’s pharmacy in Philadelphia, which was established in 2015.
